On Self-Publishing:
I haven't posted, in forever, because I’ve been busy trying to find a literary agent for my book: DRIVING THE BIRDS. For a first time author, DTB attracted a lot of attention, but after 220 queries, I wasn’t able to sign with an agent.

As a result and as I believe in the story of DRIVING THE BIRDS, I am self-publishing, and DTB will be out in September 2012!

We all know that, currently, traditional publishing is only interested in previously published authors with a following or new writers and books that a high degree of potential for success. Times are too uncertain for them to take risks. I get that.

I’ve been studying self-publishing for years, and as a coordinator the largest writer critique group in Orange County, California, I have seen many examples of self-published books that were terribly done. Actually, I have never seen a good example of a well-done, self-published book in the past six years.

Therefore, I was well acquainted with the two major pitfalls of self-published books: an ugly cover and poor editing or in some cases—no editing! Of course, I believe that I have avoided both of these major pitfalls; subjective is my bias of course.
